24-year-old neighbour rapes 11-year-old girl in Assam

Diphu : An 11-year old girl was raped and abandoned by her attacker assuming her to be dead in central Assam's Karbi Anglong district, police sources said on Sunday. The girl was raped allegedly by her 24-year-old neighbour Tinku Sahu after taking her to a nearby sugarcane field at Kheroni on September 6. Assuming her to be dead, he abondoned the girl who was later recovered with multiple injuries, they said. Sahu was arrested and was in jail now, sources said. The incident came to light on Sunday after a team of the influential Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad and local women organisations visited the girl at her.
