Results of Panchayats wards By-Election in East District of Sikkim

Gangtok: The results of by-election for two Panchayats wards in East District of Sikkim were declared through the process of counting of ballots at the conference hall of District Administrative Centre, Sichey today. The counting was held in presence of Additional District Collector and the Returning officer Ms Gloria Namchu , SDM Gangtok and the Joint Secretary, State Election Commission who was also present as the Election Observer. After completing the counting procedure the Returning Officer announced the name of wining members and also gives away the Certificate of Election to the winning candidates. 

The by-election of two panchayat wards was conducted by the State Election Commission on 16th September 2013. The election was held for Aritar ward under 43, Semik Linzay Gram Panchayat Unit of Khamdong Constituency where Mrs. Indra Kumari Sapkota was elected uncontested. In another ward, the election was contested for Budang Ward under 5 Budang Kameray Gram Panchayat Unit of Rhenock Constituency wherein Mr. Karma Gyurmey Bhutia won the election by getting 80 numbers of votes against 56 votes by Mr. Palden Sherpa.
