‘Sikkim is ruled by the people not by Chamling’ : CM

Gangtok : The SDF party head office flocked with people today, who had gathered to celebrate the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling’s 63rd birthday and also to observe ‘Garibi Unmoolan Diwas’ ( Poverty Alleviation Day). It may be mentioned here that SDF Party celebrates the Party President’s birthday every year by observing the Garibi Unmoolan Diwas. “The SDF government is on the verge of meeting the target of poverty alleviation in the state,” informed the CM in his address calling on all the people to extend their active participation in the state building process. Reiterating that the people always expect the government to do everything for them, he said that even the government needs to work within its limit. However, he said that the government has been working tirelessly for the benefit of the people till date. “Every work needs to be done phase wise. 

The people need to be patient,” he added.Mentioning the list of works being done by the present government, the CM advocated that the SDF government has always focused on all round development of the state and has been working accordingly. Addressing the youths mainly, the CM further appealed them to be competitive.“There is 82% literacy rate in Sikkim at present. We have educated youths, but one must understand that every person cannot get a government job. Therefore, I appeal the youths of the state to realize that the world is competitive and they need to prepare themselves,” stated CM Chamling. He also requested the Ministers and MLAs not to recommend any of their relatives/candidates for any government jobs.Notifying the people about developments in tourism sector of the state, the CM expressed his desire to make Sikkim an ‘eco-friendly’ tourism destination in the future. 

Mentioning that he had sanctioned many plans/projects during his village to village tour, he assured that all the pending bills regarding the plans/projects will be cleared before Dusshera and also the Old Age Pension (OAP) will be cleared. All the concerned departments have been directed to do so, he added. The Party President lastly speaking about the SDF Party expressed that he is happy now as the anti-social elements has left the Party. “The SDF Party is now clean as all the goons have left the Party,” he said. He called on all the SDF Party members to maintain discipline and accept all the decisions made by the Party, work accordingly and stay united. “There is no doubt about how I work. I am working properly for the people and the state and I appeal all the Party members also to do so. 

The Party members and people should bear equal responsibility in building Sikkim and highlight the weak points if there are any. The SDF Party is here because Sikkim deserves better. Sikkim is ruled by the people not by Chamling,” he underlined. On the occasion the CM also inaugurated ‘Sikkim Sangam Studio’. While inaugurating, the CM said that it is for the benefit of the people and no person now needs to go outside for recording. The function was also addressed by Party cadres of different levels. Earlier, Ministers, MLAs, Chairpersons, departmental heads and well wishers reached Mintokgang to greet the CM on his birthday.
