Gorkha delegation meets Uttarakhand's CM Harish Rawat

Dehradun : A Gorkha delegation of Bhartiya Gorkha Parisangh, Gorkhali Sudhar Sabha and GDF consisted of Lt Col(retd) D S Khadka, Lt Col(retd) B S Chhettri, Smt Uma Upadhya and Shri Surya Bikram Shahi, met the CM of Uttarakhand Shri Harish Rawat in the Secretariat complex on 21 Feb 2014 and submitted a memorandum pertaining to the issues of Gorkhas of Uttarakhand. The memorandum contained the following issues:
(a) To include the kshtriyas and the brahmins in the central list of OBC.The state govt to recommend this issue to the central govt.
(b) To fulfill the promise and the declaration made by the former CM Shri Bahuguna to hold the centenary birth celebration of Shahid Maj Durga Mall in the year 2013 – 14 at state level.
(c) To arrange to release the Postal stamp of Shahid Maj Durga Mall on the occasion of centenary birth celebration as promised.
(d) To accord the status of minority to the Gorkha community of Uttarakhand.
(e) To establish and set up Gorkha Kalyan Parishad in Uttarakhand since the issue is pursued for past four years.
(f) To establish and form Nepali Language Academy in Uttarakhand on the similar line as announced for the creation of Punjabi and Urdu language academy.The set up of Nepali language academy was announced publicly by the then Governor of Uttarakhand, Smt Margaret Alva.
(g) To provide financial assistance to Gorkhali Sudhar Sabha and Gorkha Military Inter College, Garhi Cantt to empower the youth and women with computer literacy and IT.
(H) To move back and reestablish Gorkha Regiment Training Center at Dehra Dun.
The meeting with the CM was very cordial and encouraging. The delegation was quite happy with the meeting and the response given BY the CM.
