SIMFED workshop on Organic Farming concludes in Gangtok

GANGTOK : A three-day workshop on Internal Control System on Organic Farming and Certification organised by SIMFED for the Federation of ICS staff members and officials ended yesterday. The workshop was organised mainly to refresh and upgrade field functionaries and officials regarding Internal Control System for Organic Farming and Certification. The event comprised screening of the prime minister’s speech in Parliament where Sikkim’s pioneering work in organic farming was highlighted. The workshop covered all aspects of ICS Organic farming and Certification with respect to data collection, soil sample collection, documentation trace net entry, marketing and sustainability of organic farming. SIMFED managing director Kuber Bhandar urged the field functionaries to take up their work seriously and in a committed way to make the whole programme successful while contributing to the chief minister’s vision of making Sikkim fully organic by 2015.
