Nepal Government ban sending Servant maids to Kuwait
KATHMANDU : The governments of Nepal have allegedly
imposed a ban on sending housemaids to Kuwait indefinitely, reports
Al-Seyassah daily quoting an owner of a domestic labor office. According to the domestic labor office owner, the decision was taken
last month and the two governments have asked the recruitment offices to
make the necessary arrangements for the safe return of their nationals,
who are currently staying in the offices, in coordination with their
respective embassies. He said the offices incurred huge losses due to
the decision; in addition to the sponsors who had to cancel the visas
and other related transactions for hundreds of household workers from
the two countries.
The owner expects a remarkable increase in the cost of hiring
housemaids in the coming months; indicating that the current sources of
domestic manpower include India, Sri Lanka and Philippines. Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, the Kuwait Women Social and
Cultural Society launched a website http://alzheimerkw.org to spread
awareness about the Alzheimer’s disease. According to a press release,
the society considers this project of great importance and priority, as
the disease is widespread among individuals who did not have prior
information about its symptoms and how to deal with people suffering
from this disease. The website contains several good articles related to the disease,
medical advices, guidance and some related video clips. Experiences
regarding the disease can be exchanged through the website. Access is
also available through social networking sites such as Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
