KATHMANDU : The governments of Nepal have allegedly imposed a ban on sending housemaids to Kuwait indefinitely, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting an owner of a domestic labor office. According to the domestic labor office owner, the decision was taken last month and the two governments have asked the recruitment offices to make the necessary arrangements for the safe return of their nationals, who are currently staying in the offices, in coordination with their respective embassies. He said the offices incurred huge losses due to the decision; in addition to the sponsors who had to cancel the visas and other related transactions for hundreds of household workers from the two countries.

The owner expects a remarkable increase in the cost of hiring housemaids in the coming months; indicating that the current sources of domestic manpower include India, Sri Lanka and Philippines.
