Tanka Bahadur Rai - Gorkha Minister in Assam Government

Shri Tanka Bahadur Rai, Hon’ble Minister, Planning & Development Department represents 72 Barchalla LAC. A Masters in Political Science and an L.LB he taught Political Economy and Jurisprudence  in colleges  at Kohima, Nagaland and in Assam before joining active politics.  He was also a practicing lawyer of Gauhati High Court for a brief period.  A capable organizer endowed with leadership qualities, he held a number of responsible positions at different levels. He was the Deputy Speaker and Speaker respectively of Assam Legislative Assembly during the period from 2001 to 2011, prior to his assuming the charges of Minister Planning & Development after 13th Assembly Elections in the State.  His interests, hobbies and experiences are best reflected in the following words :
