Sikkim CM lays foundation stone for IRB Headquarters

NAMCHI : Chief Minister Pawan Chamling laid the 2nd and 3rd foundation stone for the Indian Reserve Battalion Headquarters at Mangley Singchuthang in South Sikkim. The headquarters established to accommodate approximately 1500 personnel will be constructed over a total land area of 83.18 acres, adjacent to Mangley Bazaar. The estimated cost for the first phase of construction is Rs. 18.20 crores which has already been sanctioned and tendered by the state government. The CM stressed the construction of IRBHs will add a new chapter to the development of villagers and youths. 

He informed the IRB members about several facilities being provided by the government regarding creation of improvised promotion avenues, transfer on rotation system, outside posting, increased pay, family and health benefits. Chamling also used the occasion to appreciate the work done by the entire state police force under the guidance and leadership of Deputy General of Police Jasbir Singh. Meanwhile, Secretary of Sikkim Building and Housing Department MB Gurung presented the technical details of the upcoming headquarters. He opined the Headquarter will be completed in a period of at least 3 years from the date of commencement of the project.
