New Force Gurkha 2.6 spotted testing; is it the BS4 variant?
Those who have been following us would know that we came back mighty
impressed from the highly challengine off-road trail we took the new
Force Gurkha 2.6. Recently, a Force Gurkha test mule was spotted testing and it is being
said thtat there are good chances that Force Motors is busy testing the
BS4 variant of its hardcore offroader. Launching the BS4 variant of the
Gurkha would enable Force Motors to sell its mightly offroader in Tier I
cities, where the SUV has not been on sale due to stricter emission
norms.
Powering the Force Gurkha is a Mercedes
sourced 2.6-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that has a max power
of 81 BHP and peak torque of 230 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed
manual gearbox and the Gurkha boasts of a tubular ladder type chassis.
Playing a big role in making this SUV almost invincible off the beaten
tarmac are the front and rear differential, along with high water wading
capacity, high ground clearance, a transfer case and a snorkel. Currently, the Force Gurkha prices start
at INR 6.25 lakhs, for 4×2 base variant with a soft top. The 4×4
soft-top and 4×4 hard top variant cost around INR 8.5 lakhs
(ex-showroom). Quite obviously, the Force Gurkha BS4 variant, when it
comes, would command a slight premium over the BS3 models.
