Delhi BJP leaders call on Sikkim Lok sabha MP Prem Das Rai
GANGTOK
: Senior leaders of the BJP’s Delhi state unit, Sanjeev Sharma, KM Gupta and Councillor Archana Gupta called on Sikkim Lok Sabha MP PD Rai at his residence in Tadong, Gangtok.
They exchanged views on several important issues and appreciated the governance of the State under the leadership of CM Pawan Chamling. Earlier the BJP leaders had visited Nathula and in their meeting with Rai, they expressed there is further potential in the tourism sector in the state. The BJP leaders assured Rai they will speak to Minister of State for tourism Shripad Yasso Naik in this regard. They also commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising Sikkim’s achievements in his maiden speech in Parliament.
Rai explained to them that Sikkim is a strategic border state and therefore maintaining peace within the state is of utmost importance. Stressing that any form of disturbance from across the border with Bengal or otherwise cannot be allowed, he said the people of Sikkim are the sentinels of peace.
Meanwhile, Councillor Archana Gupta invited Rai to visit her ward in North Delhi when he returns to the capital for the next session of Parliament.
