North Sikkim road mishap kills 3 Government School Teachers

JORETHANG : Three faculty members of Tanek Government School were killed yesterday in a car accident at Tanek, North Sikkim. The deceased have been identified as Dichen Bhutia (28) of Kabi, Sonam Doma Bhutia (31) of Ramthang and Karma Thinley Bhutia, also of Ramthang. Police said the vehicle bore registration number SK-03/P-0853 and the cause of the accident is being investigated. Bal Bahadur Chhetri (58), a resident of Ben Namprik in South Sikkim, had left home Sunday morning to plough his paddy field and did not return in the evening. Neighbours found his lifeless body the next day near the paddy field. Chhetri was reportedly suffering from hypertension and was under medication. The body has been handed over to the family after a postmortem. Nikita Bhutia (27) committed suicide Monday afternoon by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her uncle's residence at Maji Gaon in Jorethang. Bhutia had been staying with her uncle and the reason for the suicide is being ascertained by the police.
