Photography club to promote tourism in Sikkim

GANGTOK:  Two school teachers here named Karma Tempo and Pempa Tshering set up the Photography Club of Sikkim about 10 months ago. Describing the club’s objective, Tempo said, “The club has been formed to promote budding photographers of the state as well as to bolster Sikkim’s tourism prospects.” He further said the club had started with just 20 members and now it boasts of 2,000, adding plans are on to hold workshops and photo exhibitions. Meanwhile, co-founder Tshering said, “Every month we organise a competition on a certain theme and now we have decided to give away prizes worth Rs 5,000 to winners.” Praveen Chhetri, a well known freelance photographer from Kalimpong, was declared this month’s winner by the club.
