DEHRADUN: A joint team of army and Uttarakhand police officials has launched a search operation for G Sanjith (27), a cadet who has been missing from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) campus since Thursday.
IMA spokesperson Himani Pant said the academy lodged an FIR about the disappearance of Sanjith, who is from Kerala, at 10.30 am on Thursday. He had gone missing a couple of hours before that. She said the IMA authorities had searched for Sanjith inside the campus before lodging the FIR. "To be on the safe side, we've lodged a missing FIR to intensify the search, but we haven't got any clue as to his whereabouts," said Pant.
A senior army officer at the IMA said: "We've viewed the incident seriously and if the missing gentleman cadet doesn't return in a day or two, it'll cause embarrassment to all of us."
"We've asked IMA officials to ascertain the possible factors that may've contributed to Sanjith's sudden disappearance from the IMA," said IG (law and order) R S Meena.
