GJM leaders likely to give miss to Mamata’s Mirik programme

EOI
KURSEONG : In spite of the odd tiff, a cordial relationship continues to exist between the GJM and the state government. However, GTA members are likely to miss out on chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s programme in Mirik on Tuesday even after the reinstatement of GJM president Bimal Gurung as GTA chief. Banerjee will be heading to Darjeeling after attending the opening ceremony of the mini-secretariat and the programme at the Kanchejunga Stadum on Monday. She is slated to attend the Tamang National Convention in Mirik tomorrow organised by the Tamang Youth Association.

But the present scenario reveals that although a cordial relationship has been created between the state government and the GTA, the latter’s members may not be present at the programme as the council has reportedly not received an invitation so far to attend the CM’s programmes, including that in Mirik. GJM general secretary and GTA executive member Roshan Giri said they have not received any invitation so far regarding the CM’s Mirik programme. “How can we participate in the programme without an invitation?” he asked. However, Giri was present at the Siliguri programme today as he had been invited.
