Gangtok : The BJP is looking for a possible alliance with regional parties of Sikkim for the forthcoming assembly and general elections, according to state in-charge Dineshanand Goswami today. He added the party is hopeful of seeing good results in the state. Goswami is presently in Sikkim for the State Executive Committee meeting along with BJP North Bengal and North East organisation secretary Panchanand Rout to chalk out an action plan for the polls. “As BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has already announced about the North East being in our priority list, our focus is to increase the pace of development in the region,” said Goswami. “With Sikkim included, our priority would be development of the state.

We have specific plans for the North East Region and are committed to its development.” The state BJP reportedly announced the names of the individuals who are to represent the party in all the 22 constituencies of Sikkim in the meeting. The saffron party will also launch a door-to-door nationwide campaign from February 11 with the theme ‘Ek Note Kamal Par Vote’ to seek mass support. As part of its countrywide campaign, the state BJP will hold tea-party discussions by putting up ‘NaMo’ tea stalls. The Discussions with Tea will be telecast as ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ including in the four district headquarters of Gangtok, Namchi, Geyzing and Mangan. State BJP president Padam Chettri and Yuva Morcha president Shanti Sharma were also present at the meeting.
