Trouble that wasn't : Shah Rukh Khan posters burnt over fake Modi tweet
New Delhi : It was just a few days back when Shah Rukh Khan and Kamal R Khan clarified that it was KRK and not SRK who had tweeted he would leave India if Narendra Modi became the prime minister of India, but people are not ready to see things as they are .Members of a right-wing Hindu fringe group were seen protesting against Shah Rukh Khan at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Thursday. Reacting to the development, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said, "This is what is called wilful blindness. When SRK has tweeted the truth, what is the point of this drama? Demonizing SRK grabs eyeballs and earns you media space. We live in the attention economy."
Stating the obvious with another example from the recent past, he said, "But don't you guys remember people burning Salman Khan's posters when he met and flew kites with Modiji in Ahmedabad? Celebrities will always be targetted by certain factions in our society to serve their political goals. The media must deny 'oxygen' to these people."
Interestingly, BJP had also dismissed the rumours, clarifying that it was KRK, and not SRK behind the statement. Shah Rukh Khan always avoids making political statements declaring himself as apolitical."
