Two days Majhitar Food & Drink Festival from 22 January in Sikkim

 

Gangtok : Majhitar Food & Drink Festival 2016 is gaining popularity in the national and state level after its formal announcement by the public of the West Pendam Constituency under the Chief Patron of Tourism & Aviation Minister of Sikkim Ugen T. Gyatso. First of its kind festival in Sikkim will be organized at Majhitar School Gorund, Near Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, NH 10, a near Gateway of Sikkim Rangpo, East Sikkim. Besides promoting the Sikkimese food & drinks, basic motive of the festival is to raise the thinking level in the broader way and to promote the landmarks of the constituency in the national and international level. Festival main highlights will be promotion of Sikkimese traditional cuisines, drinks, Sikkim made products, live presentation of making of Sikkimese traditional foods & drinks to the visitors, sale cum exhibition stalls, traditional culture and the high end musical night to enthrall the visitors from different parts of the country in which Majhitar is famous for Historical oldest Pendam Fort situated at West Pendam Constituency will be one of the major attraction in this festival, as this virgin location is still not explored by Sikkimese people and neighboring visitors, besides Singlebong village have unique kind of museum which have preservation of more than 100 years old antiquities which will also be a part of festival main highlights. Bihari & Muslim communities will also participate in this festival, as they will promote their traditional food and drinks in this festival. Television Stars from Star Plus & Zee TV are doing visual promotion for this festival and it was expected that TRP of the festival will reach greater heights. The Festival is scheduled to start from 22nd Jan – 24th Jan, the Brand Ambassador of this three days festival is Asian Kickboxing Silver Medalist Miss Sushmita Rai who hails from Majhitar only and festival is supported by much needed Sikkim Hotels & Restaurants Association (SHRA) also. This was stated in a press release by the organizing committee of the festival.
