Bimal Gurung's grand welcome by 12,000 GJM supporters

Darjeeling : GTA chief Bimal Gurung was given a grand welcome by about 12,000 GJM supporters at the Bagdogra Airport on his arrival from Kolkata. Supporters were present since morning to welcome their leader who became the new Chief Executive of the Gorkha Territorial Administration after a swearing-in ceremony in Kolkata on December 26. Bimal Gurung said, “Since I have come back to GTA, I will focus of the development of tourism, drinking water and education initially followed by various other projects.” When asked about the support to the Trinamool Congress candidate for the upcoming parliamentary election and rumors of footballer Bhaichung Bhutia running as the TMC’s candidate in the elections, Gurung said, “That is just a rumor. During the meeting with the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata no such discussion took place.”
