Karmapa Dorjee likely to visit Sikkim in January 2014

Gangtok : The Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee president Kunga Nima Lepcha claimed that the Home Ministry has given permission for the Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorjee’s visit to Sikkim in January 2014. “We had asked for permission to allow the Karmapa to visit Sikkim during our last meeting with the Congress high Command,” said Lepcha. “The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee L Folero had a meeting with the Home Minister which confirmed the Karmapa’s visit to Sikkim,” informed the Sikkim Pradesh Congress leadership.Lepcha added, “The cabinet is likely to officially approve the required formality by the first week of January. Immediately, after the approval is given the SPCC will call upon the Karmapa who is presently at Bodh Gaya.” Meanwhile, the Karmapa during his visit to Sikkim is expected to visit the Phodong Monastery and other monasteries in Tashiding and Ralang.
