Meenakshi Madan Rai sworn in as first lady judge of Sikkim High Court
Gangtok : Mrs. Meenakshi Madan Rai was sworn in as the first lady judge of the Sikkim High Court. Governor of Sikkim Srinivas Patil administered the oath of office to her at Raj Bhavan in Gangtok. After taking oath of office, she took charge as judge. With this Sikkim High Court again got its full strength of three judges after a gap of about one year. It should be noted that Mrs. Rai is also the third High Court judge who hails from Sikkim. The function saw the benign presence of the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan
Chamling, Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim Justice Mr. S.K. Sinha,
Judge High Court of Sikkim Justice Mr. S.P. Wangdi, Speaker, Sikkim
Legislative Assembly, Mr. K.N Rai, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, HODs of
various departments, members of the BAR, and host of other dignitaries.
Justice Mrs. Meenakshi M Rai after taking the oath signed the solemn
oath/ affirmation relating to her assumption of office and the Governor
attested the solemn oath/ affirmation. She was duly congratulated by Governor Shri. Shriniwas Patil, Chief
Minister Shri Pawan Chamling and host of other invitees by offering her
the traditional scarf. Earlier Chief Secretary Mrs. R Ongmu read out the notification of
appointment, notification and the warrant of appointment of Justice Mrs.
Meenakshi.
