Inaugural event featuring popular Nepali poet Pravin Rai ‘Jumeli’ in Chiya Kavita SIKKIM

GANGTOK : The Chiya Kavita team, which has been promoting poetry and literature in the State, has come up with a new event particularly invested in giving audience an opportunity to know more about the poets/writers. The event is titled ‘Bio-Lettura’ with Lettura meaning an act of reading in Italian. “The event will be the first ever solo poetry event in the State,” said Prabin Khaling, one of the organizers.  

The event will be held monthly with the inaugural event featuring popular Nepali poet Pravin Rai ‘Jumeli’. The inaugural event will be held at Wachipa Corner here on Sunday. The event will also have recitations by guest poets and musical performance by singer Pranay Gurung. The event will be not limited to poetry. It will also have storytelling and Hasya Vyang.“This new endeavour is our effort to bring forward and introduce writers and poets to the world. The audience will also get an opportunity to know more about the poets,” said Amber Gurung.

Khaling maintained that the event will focus primarily on Sikkim litterateurs. He also shared their future plans.
“We are planning to focus on visual poetry. For this we have tied up with Sukhim Productions. The videos will be available within few days on YouTube for global audience.” The event will also involve interaction between the poet/writer and listeners.
